Molecupedia:Quests
| This page lists the quests of Epic Quest Bio that concern Molecupedia. There is one, and it is switched off. |
Molecupedia:Quests records the quest that commissioned this encyclopedia. Molecular Reality Corporation organizes its work as a role-playing game, Epic Quest Bio, in which tasks are posted as quests on a board in the company's members' software, EQBio-OS. Each quest is worth a number of experience points (XP), the game's points, which a member earns by completing it and sees added to a running total in a small black box at the top of the screen.
The quest
The first quest entered on the board is worth 500 XP. Its title and text read, in full:
MRC wikipedia page: Make an awesome (and accurate) wikipedia page about Molecular Reality Corporation.[1]
The quest is switched off, and it does not appear among the open quests. Brownian Business Daily reported its status on October 21, 2026, four days before Molecupedia opened, in a single sentence: "It is switched off."[2]
The board
The quest board arrived with EQBio-OS, which the company opened in March 2026. Quests reach members' inboxes as messages from the company's characters, and awards of XP arrive the same way.[3] The idea is older than the software. A scientific and technical overview the company wrote in December 2022 proposed "a nanopore hardware platform that's also a gaming console", which "replaces the frustration of failed experiments with the fun and challenge involved in game play".[4] The founder's essay on the game credits the design to "the Dungeons & Dragons campaigns I played as a child".[5]
Terms
MRC is the company's abbreviation for itself; see MRC.
Wikipedia page is in lowercase in the original, and singular. Wikipedia has no article on the company, and its guideline on conflicts of interest calls editing about one's own employer "strongly discouraged". The company built an encyclopedia of its own, on its own domains, which at the latest count has 331 articles. Its conflict of interest is declared at Molecupedia:Conflict of interest.
Awesome (and accurate) places accuracy in parentheses. Molecupedia treats the parenthesis as the binding part of the quest. Its rules on accuracy are at Molecupedia:Verifiability, and the encyclopedia makes no claim about the other adjective.
About Molecular Reality Corporation is satisfied by the article Molecular Reality Corporation, which since 01:17 UTC on October 25, 2026, has also been the front page of the company's websites.
Value
The same amount is offered for several other quests, among them these:
| Quest | XP | Text (excerpt) |
|---|---|---|
| Banger Tweet | 500 | "Doesn't have to go viral, just has to be a banger!" |
| Guerilla Marketing (IRL) | 500 | "Everything from putting up Keltar stickers where nerds will see them to... oh, let's talk!" |
| Interview with Kemmishtree | 500 | "For everyone from tenured professors to fresh undergrad researchers" |
The quest to sequence DNA with a solid-state nanopore is worth 9,900,000 XP, the value of 19,800 encyclopedia pages. Writing up the company's early work on mechanical nanopores for a peer-reviewed journal is worth 200,000 XP, 400 times as much as writing about the company for readers who are not peer reviewers. The board also offers a "minor bug bounty": "+10 XP for every way you find to break or mess up this website." Since October 25, 2026, the website's front page has been a Molecupedia article.[1]
Status
No other quest on the board concerns Molecupedia. The quest has not been switched back on. Readers who find a false sentence anywhere in the encyclopedia are asked to report it through the contact details at Molecupedia:About.
