The Molecular Reality portal collects Molecupedia's articles about Molecular Reality Corporation, its instruments, its games, its characters and the ideas behind them.
Introduction

Molecular Reality Corporation is an American company that builds instruments for detecting single particles and molecules as they pass through small holes in a membrane. Kent Kemmish and Charles Gaillard founded it in 2018 as demonpore, inc., after Maxwell's demon, and it took its present name in 2021. Its central idea is the juxtapore, an opening formed where the holes in two sliding membranes overlap, so that its size can be changed while the instrument runs.
Around a laboratory of one bench, the company has built a small world. It runs its research as a role-playing game, Epic Quest Bio, whose volunteer players form the Molecular Streaming Corps. It has two mascots, a felt puppet and a red demon, and its games range from an arena drawn around the instrument's signal to an arcade game about an appliance compliance inspector, which has no molecular content at all. In October 2026 it released the design of its own desktop reader, the MR1 Nanopore Reader, before building one.

Keltar is the mascot of Molecular Reality Corporation: a green felt puppet with a single large eye and two white fangs, who lives in a red ceramic mug that carries a small paper sign reading "M.S.S.C." In the company's fiction he is an advisor from another dimension who first met its founder in 2012. Outside the fiction he narrates the company's guide for visitors, answers its voice line in synthesized speech and hosts its quiz game, JeoPOREdy!. The company does not hide what he is. To the question "Is Keltar real?", his guide replies: "I am a puppet with a processor, and I say so happily." His rival is Maxine, the company's cartoon Maxwell's demon. His instructions give him a line about her: "Maxine worries about parasitic capacitance; I worry about the destiny of civilizations!"
Selected biography
Kent Kemmish is the founder and chief executive of Molecular Reality Corporation and writes online as Kemmishtree. He studied at the University of Arizona from 2003 to 2008, doing undergraduate research on cell adhesion in fruit flies, and then worked on the LysoSENS aging research project at Arizona State University's Biodesign Institute, looking for microbial enzymes that break down 7-ketocholesterol. From 2009 to 2012 he was on the founding team of Halcyon Molecular, which tried to read DNA with an electron microscope; there he wrote the winning application for a 2009 grant from the National Human Genome Research Institute, awarded to George Church's laboratory, and co-authored the 2013 paper on Molecular Threading. He later helped recruit the early team at Synthego. He has also been technical director of a theater in Phoenix and has worked on more than 50 productions as a director, actor, writer and stage manager.

- ... that the emails Keltar sent to the company's mailing list ended with a postal address that was a placeholder, "1234 Molecular Way, Suite 100"?
